Dental Treatment Abroad

Considering Dental Treatment Abroad?

We understand that the idea of getting dental treatment abroad—often at a lower cost—can be appealing. And while we respect every patient’s right to explore their options, it’s important to consider not just the price tag, but also the potential risks and long-term impact on your health.

Our aim is to help you make an informed, confident decision.

Why Remote Consultations Aren’t Enough

Some overseas providers offer free online consultations, often diagnosing and recommending treatment via video calls. While this technology is useful for basic communication and follow-ups, we strongly believe it’s not appropriate for diagnosing or planning extensive dental treatments such as implants.

Here's why in-person consultations matter:

  • A thorough clinical assessment is essential before any treatment.

  • Proper treatment planning and preparation directly affect success.

  • Aftercare is vital—and much harder to manage if your provider is overseas.

UK Dentistry Standards: Regulated and Reliable

While dental techniques may seem similar worldwide, UK dentistry is governed by some of the strictest regulations globally.

  • All UK dental practices are monitored by the General Dental Council (GDC) and Care Quality Commission (CQC).

  • You are protected by strict patient care standards, hygiene protocols, and safety compliance.

  • Patients must be offered all treatment options and provided with clear, ethical advice.

Without these safeguards, the risk of complications increases—especially with extensive or surgical treatments.

The Cost Factor: What Are You Really Paying For?

We’re often told, “It’s cheaper abroad.” And it’s true—UK clinics may not compete on price. But here’s what you get in return:

  • Regulated care in a safe, professional setting

  • Immediate access to post-treatment support

  • UK-made dental prosthetics using approved materials

  • A local team who knows your history and is here when you need help

When you invest in treatment that could last 10–15 years (or more), the cost becomes a monthly investment in your long-term health and confidence.

A £5,000 treatment over 10 years = just £41.66/month

What If Something Goes Wrong?

This is where the difference really shows. If you develop a problem after treatment abroad:

  • You may need to travel back at your own expense.

  • Local dentists may not be able (or willing) to assist.

  • Implants placed overseas may use systems or tools not available in the UK, making repairs difficult or impossible without surgery.

We’re not saying issues are guaranteed - but when they do occur, they can be serious and expensive to fix.

We’re Here If You Need Us
