Teeth Whitening

Achieve a Bright White Smile

Reveal a New, Happier Smile

We know that a beautiful white and healthy smile goes a long way to making you look great and feel even better. So, if discolouration is making you conscious of your smile, teeth whitening treatment could be the perfect solution for you. Our cosmetic dentists work with you to provide you with the very best teeth whitening results and care.

Why Teeth Dull Over Time

As you age, teeth can yellow for many reasons, including discolouration from tea, coffee, red wine, and tobacco. A build-up of calculus and tartar can also cause teeth to become more yellow. Our home whitening treatment can help to improve the colour of dull or discoloured teeth and restore a brighter natural looking smile.

Safe and Effective Treatment

Teeth whitening is a popular, safe and effective procedure when carried out by a dental professional. The shade of your teeth can be altered without removing any of the surface of your teeth. We’ll begin by carrying out a consultation where we assess the health of your teeth and gums to ensure that this process is suitable for you. Then we take a digital impression of your mouth, using our 3D digital intra-oral scanner, so that our trusted dental laboratory can create a tailor made, clear, thin mouthguard (or bleaching tray) which will be unique to your teeth. Once your mouthguards are ready, we’ll welcome you in for a second appointment to ensure they fit correctly, and then we’ll show you how to apply the hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening gels. Once you feel confident with the process, you can take your whitening kit home and begin to reveal your new, brighter smile. Your teeth will begin to whiten in a few days, with the results visible within two weeks. By maintaining a good oral health routine – including regular visits to the dentist and hygienist, as well as avoiding food and drink that cause staining – you can expect the effects to last between 18 months and two years. After this time, you will only need a top up which you can buy at the practice.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Is it safe to whiten teeth at home?

As teeth whitening has become more popular, it has become easier to by DIY and budget teeth whitening kits. However, these can often contain harmful chemicals that can damage the natural enamel of your teeth and even cause burns in the mouth. Therefore, we recommend only ever using a professional tooth whitening treatment. We offer a safe and reliable professional home whitening option here in Sheffield for those who prefer to use daily treatments from the comfort of their own home.

How long lasting are teeth whitening results?

The results will vary from person to person, depending on the original shade of your teeth. The effect can last up to three years if you maintain good oral hygiene and avoid things that can stain your teeth, such as red wine, tea, coffee or smoking. Regular visits with our dental hygienist will help to maintain the effects of tooth whitening. They use EMS airflow polishing therapy as standard, which efficiently removes stains, plaque biofilm, and calculus using a high-powered antibacterial stream of water, compressed air and fine powder particles. This therapy can be provided as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with whitening procedures, as it supports the process by removing build-up that could hinder the effects of bleaching.

How do I care for my teeth after whitening?

Good oral hygiene, with regular appointments with the dental hygienist is the best way to maximise the longevity of whitening or any dental treatment. Your dentist can advise on products available for maintaining the effect of the teeth whitening treatment. Some people find that teeth can be sensitive for a few days after treatment, but the sensitivity wears off after a short while. We can also advise on products to counteract this, during your treatment.
